UIN Gusdur Contingent Wins Gold Medal from Digital Calligraphy

Bandung - Faishal Shafry, a student majoring in PAI UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan managed to win a gold medal (winner 1) in the digital calligraphy competition at the National Arts and Sports Week (Pesona) I UIN Sunan Gunung Djati (SGD) Bandung. The announcement of the winners was delivered on Friday (12/08/2022) at the Library Building of UIN SGD. Faishal managed to get the highest points and outperformed 19 other participants.

The digital calligraphy competition was held earlier on Wednesday (10/08/2022) at the UIN SGD Library Building. Competitors are given eight hours to complete the calligraphy.

In digital calligraphy, writing is made using an application via a laptop, PC, or tablet. Digital calligraphy is one branch of the calligraphy competition, the other three are decorative calligraphy, contemporary calligraphy, and script calligraphy.

Met after the medal presentation, Faishal said that the challenge of digital calligraphy is its high level of difficulty. Unlike other calligraphy written on paper media, writing calligraphy through tablets requires patience and thoroughness. To overcome this, Faishal said that he practiced regularly as a habit of writing on a tablet.

"I thank you for the support and prayers from the contingent friends, calligraphy coaches Pak Sirojuddin and Pak Sofa, and the entire official team," said Faishal.

Muhlisin as the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Cooperation congratulated the first gold achievement for the UIN Gusdur Pekalongan contingent at the Pesona I Bandung event. Muhlisin said that the success of the UIN Gusdur contingent in getting gold was thanks to the prayers and support from the Chancellor, leaders, coaches, officials, and all members of the contingent.

"Hopefully this achievement can be followed by other competitions," said Muhlisin.
